AviClear™ in Las Vegas and
Henderson, NV
Trying to treat stubborn, uncontrollable acne can be a tiring and frustrating process that reaps very little results and can even make the problem worse if not done correctly. With a variety of over-the-counter treatments, creams, and medications, acne treatment options can seem endless and confuse many people about where to start—especially if the cause of their acne is unclear.
AviClear™ laser treatment for acne is the first and only FDA-approved energy device for the treatment of mild to severe acne. It is a long-term, safe, and effective treatment for cystic acne on all skin types and tones.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Himansu Shah of Signature Plastic Surgery and Dermatology is excited to be among the first practices Las Vegas and Henderson to offer AviClear to our patients suffering with acne. Our team of dermatologists are devoted to finding safe, long-lasting treatments for acne so our patients can radiate confidence with a smooth, even complexion.
What Causes Acne, and Why Are Some More Prone to It Than Others?
Acne is a skin condition caused by congested and inflamed oil glands (sebaceous glands) and hair follicles. While bacteria also play a considerable role, the active male and female hormone androgens lead to an overproduction of oil, which, combined with dead skin cells, will clog pores and cause acne.
Acne affects everyone in some form or another. Some people experience minor breakouts due to diet or hormones, while others fight a constant battle. If you’re among the many who suffer from constant acne flare-ups, this could be due to the following reasons:
- Hormones
- Personal hygiene
- Genetics
- Medications
- Diet and lifestyle
- Incorrect skincare products
What Is AviClear™, and How
Does It Work?
AviClear is the first and original FDA-approved energy device that offers patients a future without worrying about painful acne flare-ups. Its 1726 nm wavelength targets acne at its source without drying the skin or requiring harsh medications. Its intuitive and safe laser interface targets the sebaceous glands in the skin to reduce congested pores and clear active acne. After an AviClear treatment, your skin will produce less oil, and your acne will begin to clear.
What Happens During an AviClear™ Treatment?
Your treatment will begin with your provider thoroughly cleansing your skin of any oil, residual makeup, skincare, and sunscreen. Protective goggles will be placed over your eyes since AviClear™ treatment uses an intense laser to target the oil glands.
Once your skin is prepared and your safety glasses are in place, your treatment will begin with your provider using the handheld device in the targeted areas, including cheeks, chin, jaw, and forehead. The entire process takes about 30 minutes and requires little-to-no downtime after treatments.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Himansu Shah M.D., F.A.C.S.
In Dr. Shah’s capable hands, the options are almost endless. From surgical and nonsurgical facial rejuvenation, Brazilian butt lift and Breast Augmentation, Dr. Shah can deliver the results you’ve always desired with a simple trip to the office.
With patient comfort in mind, AviClear was designed with an AviCool™ optional system that makes treatments a comfortable experience. The sensation is described as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin and is typically well-received and tolerated by patients. This sensation is caused by the laser rapidly stimulating the sebaceous gland tissue. A numbing cream is typically not used as it can interfere with the laser’s ability to penetrate the skin.
There is no recovery time needed after your AviClear treatments. Your skin will appear red and may be sensitive in the treated areas, but this shouldn’t interfere with your daily life, and it usually resolves after a few hours. It’s very important for your results and recovery that you protect your skin with sunscreen following the procedure so that your skin can quickly heal the sebaceous glands and doesn’t experience any sun damage.
Patients usually require no more than three AviClear treatments to obtain their desired outcome. Our team will thoroughly examine your skin during your consultation and develop an effective treatment plan to suit your needs. Treatments are usually scheduled about three months apart to give your skin time to heal and prepare for a follow-up treatment. The great news is that AviClear treatments are long-lasting. AviClear not only treats active breakouts but also changes your skin’s ability to produce oil, which will help prevent future breakouts indefinitely.
While AviClear isn’t intended for improving acne scars, results have shown that reddish or pink-toned scars are minimized during treatment. If you are concerned with acne scars, our MedSpa offers a variety of options to help reduce their appearance, including chemical peels, MicroPen treatments, and laser skin resurfacing treatments. During your consultation, be sure to discuss these concerns with your provider, and they will recommend the appropriate treatment to work in combination with AviClear.
Who Is the Ideal Candidate for AviClear™ Laser Treatments?
One of the most appealing attributes of AviClear is how inclusive this treatment is. Unlike other laser treatments that cannot be used for darker complexions, AviClear is safe for all sin tones. It doesn’t discriminate against certain types of acne, which means it can treat patients from adolescence to adulthood.
Ideal candidates include anyone who suffers from consistent, reoccurring acne flare-ups and would like to avoid topical or oral medications. Additionally, candidates should have no prior or present skin conditions that may be triggered by AviClear or could potentially hinder AviClear’s ability to work. Also, patients should not be taking acne medications or treatments, including Accutane and retinol.
