Botox Las Vegas and Henderson, NV
BOTOX® is one of the most popular nonsurgical procedures in the world and we offer it here at the Signature Plastic Surgery & Dermatology in Las Vegas and Henderson. Over time, the muscles in our skin become weakened and the skin becomes loose. This can result in crow’s feet, worry lines, and laugh lines.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable form of botulinum toxin and is a protein that weakens the muscles which wrinkle the skin, helping reduce the appearance of these. BOTOX® can creates a softer look and decreases the appearance of “crow’s feet”,”frown lines”, and “worry lines”. In addition to creating a softer and young appearance to the skin, it can also prevent lines from forming in the future. The BOTOX® Cosmetic injection can prevent the overuse of the muscles that caused the lines thereby having a long lasting effect well after the injection is over.
What Areas Does Botox Treat?
Botox Cosmetic can treat several areas. The most common areas, however, include but are not limited to:
What Is Botox Treatment Like?
Dr. Shah will administer the BOTOX using a very small needle. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes to perform. If needed, you will be given small ice packs to apply post-treatment to lessen any possible bruising. You will have no downtime and can return to normal activities immediately.
What Is Xeomin?
Xeomin® is a prescription medication with the active ingredient of incobotulinumtoxinA, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and the same base ingredient in Botox. The FDA approved Xeomin in 2012 after the drug demonstrated comparable effects as its predecessor.
This injectable wrinkle-reducer works on dynamic wrinkles, those that form as a result of facial expression. When we frown or squint, the muscles between the eyebrows tighten. The repetition of this facial movement combined with the loss of elasticity in the skin eventually causes creases to become permanent. Xeomin works by binding to nerve endings in targeted muscle fibers. This binding of nerve receptors prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Injections of Xeomin smooth the muscles but should not prevent a person’s ability to emote using facial expressions.

What Areas Can Xeomin Treat?
The FDA approval of Xeomin is similar to Botox and Dysport®. Each of these drugs has been approved for the treatment of glabellar lines between the eyebrows. However, doctors commonly perform off-label goals using neuromodulators. For example, these drugs are often used along the brow line to correct age-related sagging. Xeomin can be used to address the same concerns Botox typically corrects, including frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet.
What Results Can Xeomin Achieve?
Two randomized, multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate the performance of Xeomin. More than 500 healthy adult patients participated in these trials. During the study, 20 Units of Xeomin were administered to patients. A thirty-day assessment by treating physicians and individual patients proved that Xeomin achieved notable results. At the thirty-day mark, sixty percent of patients reported a 2-grade improvement on a 4-point scale.
Forty-eight percent reported a 4-grade improvement on that scale. Patients in the placebo group reported no improvement. Patients can expect to begin seeing noticeable improvements as early as 3 to 4 days after Xeomin treatment and certainly within one week. Results may continue to improve subtly for up to 30 days.
How Long Do The Results Of Xeomin Last?
Neuromodulators share a lifespan of 3 to 6 months. However, a person may metabolize the drug much more quickly or slowly.
How Does Xeomin Differ From Botox?
Xeomin and Botox share the same base ingredient and also the same primary mechanism of action in the body. The primary difference between the two is that Botox contains accessory proteins around botulinum toxin A and Xeomin does not. This is why Xeomin is referred to as “naked Botox.” Without extra proteins, Xeomin is less likely to cause antibody formation in patients. Antibody formation decreases the response to treatment.
