Laser Skin Resurfacing in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV
Acne scars, deep wrinkles, fine lines, and textural irregularities can be challenging to treat and manage. You can spend hundreds of dollars on top-of-the-line skin care products at your favorite beauty supply store, and still never experience the smooth, youthful complexion you want. That’s because your skin needs repair from the inside out. Topical creams, serums, and physical exfoliators are only superficial and can’t reach the deep layers below, where the damage is the worst. To fully target skin imperfections, many people turn to professional laser treatments like laser skin resurfacing.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Himansu Shah is genuinely interested in improving his patients’ self-esteem and appearance with cutting-edge RF skin tightening treatments. He has partnered with countless patients throughout his illustrious career as a plastic surgeon.

What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Aging, acne, or too much unprotected time in the sun can leave you with scars, lines, and imperfections. To help your skin look healthier and more vibrant, laser skin resurfacing removes the damaged top layer, called the epidermis.
Exfoliating dead, tired skin cells triggers your body’s natural healing process, prompting faster cell turnover and increased collagen and elastin production, making your skin smoother, brighter, and stronger. For patients with deep-set scars from past acne, we may recommend more than one RF skin tightening procedure to reach the desired results.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Options
Signature Plastic Surgery & Dermatology offers fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatments to help battle the effects of time, gravity, aging, and excessive sun exposure that have caused facial lines and uneven pigmentation. Fractional laser resurfacing is a new technology that allows Dr. Shah to target specific problem areas one at a time, rather than treating an entire area. This innovative device allows for dramatically reduced downtimes and faster recovery, so you can enjoy your results sooner.
UltraPulse CO2 has two levels: ActiveFX and DeepFX. Dr. Shah uses Active FX to treat superficial pigmentations such as blotchiness and fine lines by sending a high-energy laser beam in a broad pattern across the skin’s surface. For more dynamic wrinkles, skin laxity, and deep scarring, Dr. Shah uses DeepFX, which sends a direct, narrow beam of energy into the deeper skin layers, stimulating collagen production to soften and smooth the surface.
Signature Plastic Surgery & Dermatology also provides the Alma V-Shape to help patients specifically target skin laxity, fine lines, and wrinkles. Alma V-Shape treatments stimulate collagen production, leading to tighter skin and dramatically reduced wrinkles.
What Can Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing Treat?
The UltraPlus CO2 laser has earned recognition as the gold standard for resurfacing systems. The laser allows for more precise targeting of skin imperfections with less damage. Its state-of-the-art technology allows Dr. Shah to target a myriad of skin issues, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles, including those along the upper lip, cheeks, and forehead
- Crow’s feet
- Perioral wrinkles, or smoker’s lines
- Age spots, sun spots, and splotchy, uneven skin tone
- Acne scars or other types of facial scarring
- Loose skin, wrinkles, and pigmentation irregularities on the neck, cheek, and hands
What Are the Benefits of Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Often, it only requires few fractional laser skin resurfacing session to achieve your desired results, saving you time and money. The laser immediately triggers collagen production, allowing for reduced wrinkles, fine lines, even skin tone, and more consistent skin texture.
After laser skin resurfacing treatment, recovery requires only a week or less. This time allows for any redness, sensitivity, or peeling to resolve before you return to work or a big event.
Fractional laser skin resurfacing is equally effective on the face, hands, neck, and chest, where signs of aging are more prevalent due to those areas receiving more sun exposure and other sources of external damage.

What to Expect From a CO2 Laser Resurfacing Treatment
Dr. Shah or one of our licensed dermatologists will provide you with detailed instructions on how to prep your skin for treatment. Pre-care typically involves:
- Avoid tanning booths, self-tanners, and sun exposure for up to four weeks before your treatment.
- Stop using medication that could cause sun sensitivity for three days beforehand. Be sure to provide Dr. Shah or your dermatologist with a list of medications you are currently taking to avoid any potential complications.
- Start taking antiviral medication for a few days before and after your treatment if you have a history of cold sore breakouts or shingles.
- Stop smoking for two weeks before and afterward, as smoking can interfere with your healing ability.
Before your treatment begins, your provider will clean your skin and give you specialized glasses to protect your eyes from the laser. Since CO2 laser resurfacing can involve discomfort, we can apply a topical anesthetic to prevent pain and help you relax to make your treatment a more enjoyable experience.
Once your treatment area is clean and numb, the dermatologist or Dr. Shah will slowly move the laser wand over your skin. Depending on what issues you are addressing, you can expect to spend between 30 minutes and two hours at our office. Lastly, we will apply an antibacterial ointment and nonstick dressing to the treated area to protect it while it heals. Leave this on for the first 24 hours or until Dr. Shah instructs you to remove it.
What to Expect During CO2 Laser Resurfacing Recovery
Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing requires a much shorter healing time than similar treatments, but there is still recovery. After CO2 laser resurfacing, most patients report scabbing. However, cool compresses and generous applications of the provided healing ointment will make recovery much more manageable and comfortable.
For the first week, you’ll need to cover your skin with an ointment to help keep it moisturized and protect it from infections. After that, you can apply light cosmetics. Your skin may look reddened for one to two weeks after the treatment, but most patients report feeling comfortable returning to work and social settings in less than a week.
