What is a Hair Transplant?
Hair Transplant Procedure
First, Dr. Shah cleans your scalp and injects medicine to numb the back of your head. He will use either one of the instruments to perform the hair transplant procedure:
- Follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)
- Follicular-unit extraction (FUE)
- NeoGraft
Each involves different preparation processes, FUE being less invasive than the FUSS procedure. After that point, both procedures are the same. Once he prepares the grafts, Dr. Shah cleans and numbs the area where the hair will go, creates holes or slits with a scalpel or needle, and delicately places each graft in one of the holes.

Follicular-Unit Extraction Hair Transplant
“Follicular-Unit Extraction” is also known as “F.U.E.”. This is an advanced, minimally-invasive hair transplant method that allows for the harvesting of individual follicles from the donor area without a scalpel incision or the necessary stitches. Since this method is minimally-invasive, it does not leave a permanent linear scar.
Benefits of the FUE Method
- FUE hair transplant is a very safe, minimally invasive, relatively minor procedure
- Minimal bleeding and fewer complications than with the “strip” method
- The procedure is performed with local anesthetic and no intravenous or intramuscular sedation is required
- Patients experience minimal discomfort, no scalpel incision, no sutures, no linear scar and quick recovery times
- And Much More!
How Long Is the Procedure?
Depending on the size of the transplant you’re getting, the process will take about 4 to 8 hours. You might need another procedure later on if you continue to lose hair or decide you want thicker hair.
Hair Transplant using NeoGraft®
NeoGraft is a new minimally-invasive automated hair transplant system. NeoGraft facilitates the harvesting of follicles during a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant. This method dramatically improves the accuracy and speed compared to previously used manual extraction instruments.
How Long Do FUE Hair Transplants Take To Heel?
Surprisingly, you’ll be able to wash your hair within three days after your procedure. You’ll need to use a surgical sponge that we provide and soapy water to keep the recipient area clean and to stop it from developing crusts on the implanted follicles. We’ll show you the proper technique. It’s important not to rub the areas with the transplanted follicles. You can’t dry with a towel for about the first week; you’ll simply let your hair air dry. After that, you can wash your hair as you normally do. The donor area can be washed immediately, and you’ll need to keep it clean.
After about 10-14 days, your recipient areas will look natural and the transplants will no longer be visible.
Would I Be A Good Candidate For FUE Hair Transplantation?
Are There Any Risks Associated With The FUE Hair Transplantation Procedure?
This is a low-risk procedure, as it involves no incisions. The donor and recipient sites need to be kept clean to avoid the potential for infection. There usually will be some mild swelling, more at the recipient sites. You may have some numbness or decreased feeling on the treated areas, but this usually resolves in a couple of weeks.
Is The NeoGraft Suitable For Both Men And Women?
Yes, the method of removal of individual hair follicles is perfect for areas of thinning hair on both men and women.
Will My Transplanted Hair Look Natural?
Your hair will not only look natural, but it will behave naturally. Washing, brushing, combing — the hair transplanted hair is natural hair and won’t need any special treatment.
