What is Ultherapy (Non-Surgical Facelift)?
Ultherapy is an FDA-approved, non-surgical ultrasound treatment that triggers collagen production to gradually lift the skin on the eyebrow, chin and neck. It can also be used to smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.
Ultherapy is designed for individuals that are starting to see signs of aging, but don’t require surgical intervention such as a facelift or neck lift. Measurable results will be noticeable after a single treatment session.
Dr. Himansu Shah is pleased to offer Ultherapy technology at the Signature Institute of Aesthetic Sculpting. His patients appreciate the ease and convenience of the Ultherapy system and enjoy looking rejuvenated and refreshed after treatment.

Advantages of Ultherapy
The key benefits of Ultherapy include the following:
- FDA-approved for safety
- No downtime required
- Quick treatment session (30-90 minutes)
- Results visible after one treatment session
- Triggers the body’s natural production of collagen
- Ultrasound imaging ensures efficient energy deposit for the most beneficial results
Am I a Candidate for Ultherapy?
Ultherapy might be right for you if you are seeking a non-surgical way to address the effects of aging and sun damage. Typically, candidates for Ultherapy are in their mid-30s or older with mild to moderate skin laxity on the:
- Chin or neck
- Lines and wrinkles on the chest
Can Ultherapy Replace a Facelift?
While Ultherapy produces a noticeable lift in the skin around the eyebrows, under-eye area, jaw and neck, the procedure will not replicate the results of facelift surgery. It may be appropriate for individuals that are not ready for cosmetic surgery, or that want to prolong the effects of surgery.
How Does Ultherapy Work?
We perform ultherapy as an outpatient basis at our office. Treatment does not require anesthesia, incisions, fillers or toxins — it simply uses your body’s own collagen-building process. The treatment session will take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area and your unique treatment plan.
First, the Ultherapy handpiece will be positioned over the treatment area, and the treatment tip will be placed against the skin. The handpiece delivers ultrasound energy to the deep layers of the skin and heats the tissue. This triggers the production of fresh, new collagen, which gradually causes the skin to lift and look tighter, with a more youthful tone. This process is repeated until the entire area has been targeted.
Ultherapy treatment involves the use of ultrasound imaging technology, which helps us to visualize the dermal and subdermal layers of tissue as we work. This ensures the precise delivery of energy for the most transformative results.
Does Ultherapy Hurt?
Ultherapy is not painful, but you may feel a slight sensation as treatment is administered. You will feel the deposit of energy at precise depths during treatment.
Ultherapy Treatment Recovery
Because it is a non-surgical treatment, Ultherapy does not require significant downtime. The treated area may have temporary redness that quickly subsides.
You should be able to return to work and your regular activities almost immediately after treatment, without making any special post-treatment accommodations.
You will notice results in a few months. The skin in the treated area will look firmer and smoother, with fewer wrinkles. Your facial features will also look more defined with a “lifted” effect around the eyebrows, under-eye area, jaw and neck.
Your results should continue to improve for up to six months as your body produces more collagen.
How Long Does Ultherapy Last?
How long the results visibly last varies by individual, depending on how their body naturally produces collagen and ages. We recommend regular touch-up treatments to maintain the results.
Side Effects and Risks of Ultherapy
The skin may look slightly red or flushed after treatment, but it shouldn’t last more than a few hours. Other normal side effects include temporary mild swelling, tingling or tenderness in the treated area.
There is a small possibility of other rare side effects. Our team will discuss these with you during consultation.
Is Ultherapy Similar to Laser Treatments?
No. Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy, which can treat depths that laser treatment cannot. This ultrasound energy stimulates the production of collagen, which then lifts the skin’s tissue over time.
