Injectable treatments like Botox, dermal fillers, and Kybella represent one of the most prominent shifts the beauty industry has experienced. We routinely perform injectable services in our Las Vegas and Henderson offices. These treatments accomplish natural-looking results without the same risks associated with surgery. They allow people to get work done without looking like they’ve had work done and without having to schedule time out of their busy schedules. As convenient and effective as injectable treatments are, there are still some Dos and Don’ts you need to know. We’ll cover them here.
Injectable treatments work by targeting specific tissues. For products like Botox and fillers to achieve the desired outcome, they must permeate a localized area. To support this, you should schedule injectable treatments after other services, like facials and chemical peels. You also should not schedule injectable treatments before going to the dentist or getting a massage. If something will press on your face, give yourself a week after injectable treatment to engage in it.
ICE IF NECESSARY
If you’re new to injectable treatment and you’re worried about discomfort, you may apply a clean ice pack for about 10 minutes before your procedure begins. You can do the same afterward. Icing can help keep swelling to a minimum and can help reduce the risk of bruising. Just don’t overdo it. A brief 10-minute application should be sufficient.
TAKE APPROPRIATE MEDICATIONS
Some medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, can increase the risk of bruising. They do this by thinning the blood. If you need pain relief for a headache or other aches and pains, stick to acetaminophen like Tylenol for a few days before and after injections.
RUSH OFF TO THE GYM
When you’re dedicated to your physical fitness, it can be difficult to take a break from your normal routine. However, if you rush to the gym right away after getting injectables, you stand a relatively good chance of bruising. Generally, this risk goes away 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Until that time, it’s beneficial to engage in activities that don’t increase heart rate very much.
CELEBRATE YOUR NEW LOOK WITH A COCKTAIL
Whether you feel celebratory before or after getting injectables, it’s best to kick up your heels in ways that do not include drinking. The adult beverages that make Happy Hour enticing also increase the risk of bruising. Like certain medications, alcohol is a blood thinner. Therefore, you should avoid it for 24 hours before and after injectable treatments.
